Cosplay Contest - Craftsmanship

The application deadline is June 7, 2025, at midnight.

Your application is only valid if submitted correctly by the deadline.

If you have any questions regarding the contest, please contact us at info@cosplay.hu.

The organizers will review all applications. If the quality of the cosplay, the uploaded image, or music is deemed unsuitable, the organizers will notify you via email. Therefore, we kindly ask you not to wait until the last minute to submit your application!

Please note that the contest has a limited number of participants. Considering the number of applicants and stage time, the organizers reserve the right to close the application process before the deadline.

1. Complete Your Personal Details

In the basic info section, you must provide your real full name and a valid email address where we can reach you. Supplying your real name is mandatory in all cases (for groups, we require the names of all performers) – this is the only way we can allow you early entry before the event opens so you have time to change and prepare for the contest.

During registration, you must also provide the name of the character you’re cosplaying and the exact source.

Based on our experience, Citromail, Freemail, Yahoo, and Hotmail email addresses are often unreliable. If you register with one of these, we cannot guarantee that you’ll receive important confirmations or updates. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to accept complaints related to missed messages.

Important! Please rename all uploaded files using lowercase letters only, remove accented characters, replace spaces with underscores, and avoid special characters (except for hyphens).

2. Character Reference Image

The image serves as a reference for both the jury and the audience, so it’s important that it clearly and accurately represents the character with all relevant details. Please upload a high-quality, large-sized image of your character.

Images that do not clearly show the character will not be accepted. Edited or composite photos are allowed, but recoloring is strictly prohibited.

The minimum resolution should be 1280×720 pixels, in .jpg format. The recommended and ideal size is 1920×1080 pixels, with a maximum file size of 1 megabyte.

3. Music

Participants must upload the music that will be played during their stage entrance as part of their registration. Ideally, the music should match the theme of the chosen character(s) (e.g. a snippet from the main theme or background music), but you are free to choose any track.

We will do our best to check the submitted music, but the organizers are not responsible for poorly edited or low-quality files. If the music exceeds the allowed time limit, the application will be rejected.

Please note that organizers will not edit or cut audio files – only upload a track that is ready to be played from start to finish.

Allowed Music Duration:
● 30–60 seconds

Requests, Presenter Script & Behind-the-Scenes Photos

You have the option to upload photos of your costume-making process, along with a written document describing the different phases of your work for the jury.

A short script will be read aloud by the host before your stage appearance, based on the description you submit during registration (please note that the host may modify this text depending on time constraints or circumstances).

The presenter script should include what you’d like the host to say about your character or costume before you step on stage. A brief 1–2 sentence introduction is sufficient – just enough to give the audience a hint of who they’re about to see.

Your description must include the exact length of the uploaded audio file (e.g.: meszaros_ildiko.mp3 length: 00:54).

In case of an invalid registration, you will be notified via email.

And of course, anyone is welcome to dress up outside the contest as well!
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us at info@cosplay.hu.

CONTEST RULES

Participants can enter both categories if they wish!

Each day, the top three contestants will be awarded, sharing a total prize pool of 500,000 HUF!

PERFORMANCE (STAGE ACT)

Participants in this category are tasked with portraying their chosen character as accurately (or entertainingly) as possible. While a realistic costume is important here as well, unlike in the craftsmanship category, performance and character portrayal play a major role in the evaluation.

On stage, contestants must stay in character at all times – speaking and acting as if they truly are the character they've chosen. A short scene or act may also be performed, either solo or as a group.

Each performance may last up to 4 minutes. Any contestant exceeding this time limit will be disqualified without further explanation.

A group may consist of up to 8 members.

Judging Criteria:

  • Creativity and originality

  • How accurately the contestant reflects the character’s appearance and behavior

  • Choreography
